DVD Growth in Brazil, Advances in Streaming Video and High Definition Formats Create Digital Media Market Opportunities

Industry Participants Internap, Netflix, Infosmart and USA Video Interactive Positioned for Continued Market Penetration Across Hardware, Content, and Storage Segments

www.DigitalMediaStocks.com, an investor and industry news portal for the digital media sector, reports on key growth areas within the digital media industry in DVD, high definition and streaming video. Infosmart Group, Inc. (OTC BB: IFSG), a global DVDR manufacturer, is working to capitalize on the rapid growth Brazil is seeing as the DVD format is only now being adopted in this developing region. In addition, advancements in streaming video and the availability of high quality downloads has opened the doors for many players such as Internap (NASDAQ: INAP), a global provider of integrated content delivery systems and USA Video Interactive Corp. (OTC BB: USVO), provider of video-on-demand and digital watermarking anti-piracy technology.

On the content side, positioned to benefit from continued demand for DVD movies and the eventual shift to high definition, is online movie delivery company Netflix.

While the format battle continues to dominate high definition circles, many companies have found significant market opportunity for DVD and recordable DVDs in developing markets such as Brazil.

According to Justin Davis, North American representative for Infosmart Group (OTC BB: IFSG), “Right now in Brazil you have 185 million people, 60 million TVs, but only 4 million DVD players. This mirrors exactly what we saw in the U.S. 5-7 years ago when most people were utilizing VHS and began transitioning from VHS into DVD. And now in North America basically everyone is using DVDs and most likely owns one or more DVD players. Brazil is at this transition stage right now and with this market only now becoming a viable option, it creates tremendous growth potential. Infosmart Group is positioned to take advantage of this opportunity through its newly opened facility called Infosmart Discobras.”

With the foothold that the existing standard continues to hold, Swasey sees DVDs as continuing to dominate. Netflix’s Steve Swasey, Director, Corporate Communications states, “We are a distributor and we are going to continue to send out the formats that movie studios continue to publish in and make that available to our customers. It is however a DVD world and will continue to be for five to ten years at least for several reasons. DVDs are ubiquitous and with the advent of the HD DVD and Blu-ray, it is still the most popular way of getting entertainment today.”

Thanks to high profile sites such as YouTube, streaming video has become a high growth and viable channel for content distribution that many feel could change the face of consumer entertainment through the availability of high quality downloads. The Internet has been a key contributor to the growing level of digital content now available, however with this surge has come an escalated amount of video and movie piracy, reaching global levels exceeding $18 billion.

Patrick Gregston, Sales Manager with USA Video Interactive Corp (OTC BB: USVO) explains, “What makes the digital era different is the speed and quality of what anybody can do, so the threats are multiple, and within the means of millions and with the surge of companies now distributing and selling video content over the Internet, piracy issues have become a greater concern than ever before.”

With the ability to digitally watermark content as it is being distributed over the Internet using the Company’s SmartMarking technology (MediaEscort™), USVO is positioned to take advantage of this fast paced delivery channel as they secure the rights of the content producers and distributors.

Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a provider of choice for the world’s elite businesses on the Internet, through their recent acquisition of VitalStream, has extended their reach into the rich media content streaming delivery business and is turning the growing demand for online video content into a high growth business from an advertising perspective.

As described by Andrew Albrecht, Vice President Corporate Development for Internap, “Our acquisition of VitalStream allows us to put real time ads into streaming video, targeting the ads using specific geographic and demographic information and providing reporting back to the advertisers on the number of ads that were targeted and delivered. Internap is looking to continue to develop this technology to take advantage of the growing demand for rich digital media content providing a means for monetizing digital media content through seamless, streaming and targeted advertising.”

In addition to the continued strength of the DVD market and the rise in popularity of streaming video, it is difficult to deny the opportunities associated with the inevitable shift to a high definition viewing experience. Evidence that consumers are beginning to move towards high definition is seen in the rising sales of HDTVs.

In addition to the continued strength of the DVD market and the rise in popularity of streaming video, it is difficult to deny the opportunities associated with the inevitable shift to a high definition viewing experience. Evidence that consumers are beginning to move towards high definition is seen in the surging sales of HDTVs which are equipping many of today’s consumers with technology to take advantage of high definition media, with expectations that this pattern will continue to grow at escalating rates.

According to Adam Thomas, Media Research Manager with Informa Telecoms & Media and author of: 'HDTV: A Global Analysis', "We are forecasting pretty strong growth for high definition TV, with more than 150 million HDTV homes worldwide expected by the end of 2011 – which is more than three times the number at present. The US has 28 million HD homes at the moment and we are expecting that to rise to 63 million over the next five years.”

Interest Builds for Mining Stocks Following Publication of GFMS Gold Survey 2007

www.InvestorIdeas.com, and mining portals www.Gold-MiningStocks.com, www.MiningSectorStocks.com, add Kinross Gold Corporation (TSX:K), Ascendant Copper Corporation (TSX: ACX), Stornoway Diamond Corporation (TSX: SWY), and Sherwood Copper Corporation (TSX.V: SWC) to the growing list of mining and resource companies presenting in the upcoming April 18th online investor conference. The conference currently features 6 well-known industry speakers and over 20 mining/resource companies including Keynote Kinross Gold Corporation.

The online educational investor conference is themed: “Mining and Resources: Perspectives on gold, silver, copper, diamond, uranium, metals and other key mining segments”. Presented by industry experts and management from public companies, the format will consist of audio and Power Point or Flash presentation, averaging 15-20 minutes. The online audio conference will be made live the morning of April 18th and stay open and archived for a minimum of three months thereafter, giving investors long term access to the information.

Investor interest in the sector was fuelled by new data and forecasts released April 4th by GFMS precious metals consultancy, specialising in research in the global gold, silver, platinum and palladium markets. GFMS predicts an investor led rally in gold in 2007 due to geo-political tensions and concerns. “GFMS see this upside potential as being firmly in the hands of investors” according to the report.

Excerpt from GFMS Report, Philip Klapwijk, Chairman: “I’d also be far from surprised if this year we saw the market moving above the 2006 high of $725. Quite whether we’d then get close to the all time high of $850 is more doubtful, but I’d certainly expect the upward price trend to continue on into 2008.” Full Report: http://www.gfms.co.uk/Press%20Releases/GS07_Overview.pdf

What a difference a day makes in the market - Following the Fed the market reacted strongly to the upside with the Dow Jones industrial average up 156.86 points, (1.28 %), at 12,444.96. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index up 23.67 points, (1.68 %) at 1,434.61, The NASDAQ Composite Index up 47.71 points, (1.98 %) at 2,455.92.
Our site sometimes sees a trend before it happens and felt some of the pain in the market prior to the big drop in the Dow and then saw things gain momentum online before todays reaction .
Retail investor activity tells an interesting story if you listen.
The biggest thing we see, like the market, is how global and reactive the markets have become and investors think more short term than long term based on input from data. We think the smart investors think long term and wait out the short term volatility and market scares we have just felt to see better days like - today !
Reminder - as Al Gore testifies today in front of Congress and Senate on the "Inconvenient Truth" about Global Warming - Investors can login free and register to hear our online greentech conference speakers -

InvestorIdeas.com Adds New Investor Podcast- “Shrewd Speculators”; Market and Sector Commentary
Introductory "Shrewd Speculators” Podcast, with Kevin Sylla and Eric Axel; Discuss Mining, Oil and Gas Sectors

www.InvestorIdeas.com, a leading global investor and industry research resource portal specialized in sector investing news, stock directories and research links, has added a new Investor Podcast to its growing audio content. The launch of Shrewd Speculators; Market and Sector Commentary with Kevin Sylla and Eric Axel, opens the series with a discussion on the market, focusing in on mining and oil and gas sectors.
With the focus on global warming increasing as the awareness of the damage caused through the burning of fossil fuels has become apparent, uranium stocks have benefited as the bid for nuclear power strengthens.
Eric Axel describes, “The run for many uranium stock prices has been enormous, on average between 80-100%, and with uranium companies expanding I think there is still a run left in them. You do need to be selective and this of course always goes back management.”

Looking to the oil market both ‘speculators’ have a positive outlook on the sector. “I am very bullish on oil for several reasons. I think the geopolitical uncertainty and the nearing U.S. election will drive prices north of $70 per barrel. Short-term I think pure oil plays will continue to do well going into the summer. As an investor I would look for oil and gas service companies as my number one priority,” states Kevin Sylla.

The audience is invited to submit questions to the Shrewd Speculators for response in future podcasts. Please email all questions through: speculators@investorideas.com

Shrewd Speculators ( www.investorideas.com/ss/ ) hosts include Kevin Sylla, who currently serves as the Special Situations Director at Bathgate Capital Partners LLC (www.bathgatepartners.com), an innovative investment bank focused on providing comprehensive services to underexposed and undervalued micro cap companies.

Eric Axel is the Director of Special Situations with Perrin, Holden & Davenport (www.phdc.com), a full service brokerage and investment banking firm located in New York City.

Our newly added non profit to Investorideas.com-
Camino Seguro (Safe Passage) www.safepassage.org

If we are to believe the saying “you are what you eat”, then the families living in the Guatemala City dump are garbage. As we live our lives of manicured lawns and manicured nails in North America, the families of the Guatemala City dump wake up in huts built of cardboard or tin, landscaped with garbage and find their daily survival needs within the layers of the city dump.
Never before imagining leaving the boundaries of smell and decay, the children and families have been given a light of hope through Camino Seguro (Safe Passage) www.safepassage.org. The dream of empowering children and creating change through education started with founder Hanley Denning, who was tragically killed in a car accident in January 2007. Her vision of “creating opportunities and dignity through the power of education “lives on in the faces and the hearts of the children at Camino Seguro.
Thanks to my sister and niece (Darcy and Chelsea) who recently volunteered at the organization and fell in love with the children for bringing the cause to our attention.

Proving his 1987 forecast was no fluke, Mr. Grandich said in January 2000 that the year 2000 will go down as the year the great mega bull market of the 80s and 90s came to an end.

For investors following oil sands stocks

As the oil and gas sector goes thru its ups and downs with the price of oil and new energy sources such as renewable and green tech are looked at - some oil industry analysts love the prospects of the oil sands stocks.

With environmental concerns being an issue see how the players are adjusting and track what is happening in some of the stocks drilling and buying properties in the sector.

According to a recent article in the Globe:

"Oil sands woes will be resolved, energy board says
DAVID EBNER
Sunday, January 28, 2007
Calgary — Alberta will overcome the difficult challenges facing oil sands development, the head of the provincial energy regulator says.
“I firmly believe this will be very well organized and deliberately planned on the part of everybody to ensure this resource is extracted properly. We will make sure of that, because as an organization we can't stand by and see it done otherwise,” Neil McCrank, chairman of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board, said in an interview.
In November and December, the board approved two new oil sands projects but both times warned that rapid expansion of the oil sands was reaching a critical point.
With roughly $100-billion of work planned for the region over the next decade, problems are everywhere in Fort McMurray, from a severe housing shortage that has made the remote city one of Canada's most expensive to extremely stressed health care facilities"

Three Tiny Mo-Mo Stocks for a Big Mo-Mo Market
By Michael BrushExclusively for InvestorIdeas.comJanuary 25, 2007
There’s so much bullishness in the market now as indices and many stocks hit all-time highs, you need to be careful. Often when bullishness gets to these extremes, a pullback providing better prices lies around the corner.
But if you insist on jumping on the bandwagon and buying stocks trading at or near all-time highs, why not go along with insiders who are doing the same?

Solar IPO’s Boom in 2006
By Peter Lynch
for InvestorIdeas.com
January 19, 2007

In the past, a solar IPO (Initial Public Offering) was a rare event, with never more than 2 or 3 coming public in any given year. This past year, 2006, marks the beginning of a significant ramp up in solar IPO’s and more importantly, it is the beginning of serious financial resources coming into the solar industry which will allow the industry to continue its current robust growth. In fact, the 2006 solar IPO boom, really started in the last 6 weeks of 2005, when Sunpower (SPWR) and Suntech (STP) came public and are up 130% and 75% respectively since their IPO’s.

The days of the solar industry being an under funded “cottage industry” are over and with the onset of serious funding, a bright new future awaits us all.
advertisement Although once again, the photovoltaics (PV) sector has dominated the public financing arena, there have been a number of ethanol related IPO’s that have also started to trade their shares on the public markets in the U.S. Below is a break down of the PV IPO’s in terms of offerings that have been completed in 2006 and offerings that have filed (with the SEC) or rumored to go public in the very near future.

Completed 2006 IPO’s

Website: www.akeena.net
Renesola Ltd.
Stock Symbol: SOLA.L. Renesola went public on the AIM exchange in London in August at a price of 80 pence raising approximately $50 million. Renesola is a Chinese company that produces silicon wafers for the PV industry in China and around the world.
Current stock price: $470 pence, market cap: 528 million+
Website: www.renesola.com
Trina Solar Limited
Stock symbol: TSL. Trina Solar is another China based PV company that produces conventional silicon PV modules. The IPO started trading on December 19 th 2006 at $18.50. Raising the company approximately $ 90 million.
Current stock price: $20.85, market cap: $420 million +
Website: www.Trinasolar.com
Solarfun Power Holdings
Stock symbol: SOLF. Solarfun is a China based PV manufacturer that produces conventional silicon PV modules from ingots. Their current capacity is approximately 50 megawatts (MW). The IPO started trading on December 20 th 2006 at $12.50. Raising the company approximately $150 million.

Pending IPO’s These are PV companies that have either filed (Photowatt Technologies, Inc. and J A Solar Holdings Co., Ltd.) or others that are rumored to be moving forward toward doing a public financing in the U.S.
Photowatt Technologies, Inc.
Proposed stock symbol: PWAT. Photowatt produces conventional PV panels from polysilicon and from recycled metallurgical grade silicon. It is partially owned by a Canadian public company, ATS Automation Tooling Systems (symbol:ATS.TO), which trades on the Toronto stock exchange. I would expect the IPO in the first or second quarter of 2007.
Proposed initial stock price: Unknown, market cap: unknown

J A Solar Holdings Co., Ltd.
Proposed stock symbol: JASO. J A Solar Holdings produces high quality mono-crystalline solar cells for other solar companies to put in their solar modules. Yingli Solar is a China based PV Company that is vertically integrated (silicon ingots, to wafers, to panels, to systems) solar manufacturer with approximately a 100MW annual capacity. A number of articles have stated that Yingli plans to raise over $400 million in a NASDAQ IPO in 2007.
Proposed initial stock price: Unknown, market cap: unknown
Website: www.yinglisolar.com
LDK Solar Hi-Tech Co., Ltd.
Proposed stock Symbol: unknown. LDK is now the biggest multicrystalline wafer manufacturer in Asia, the manufacturing plant located in Economic Development Zone, Xinyu, Jiangxi, P, R, China. It has a current capacity of 200MW and projected capacity of 1,000MW by 2010.
Proposed initial stock price: unknown. Market Cap: unknown
Website: www.ldksolar.com/english/index.html
CEEG (Nanjing) PV-Tech Co., Ltd (NPV)
Proposed stock symbol: unknown. NPV was founded under the collaboration of China Electric Equipment Group (CEEG) and a team of Australian PV technology scientists in June of 2004. It is a large manufacturer of PV panels and equipment. Current capacity is stated at 192MW.
Proposed initial stock price: unknown. Market cap: unknown
Website: www.n-pv.com/english/index.asp

Notes:
The term “market capitalization” (market cap) is the total number of shares outstanding times the current stock price – this is an important number investors should be aware of since it is the value that the market is currently placing on the entire company. Thin Film technology is what I would describe as the “next generation” of PV technology. It will NOT be subject to silicon shortages and will allow much lower cost of manufacturing.

Going Green - Investing in Renewable Energy- Fashionable or Necessary?
We started RenewableEnergyStocks.com® years ago based on a long term philosophy in the energy sector and also influenced by issues like Homeland Security that it was only a matter of time that the transition in energy technology would take place as oil prices became higher and the countdown to a diminishing oil supply got closer . We knew it could be years – up to ten maybe- but it was inevitable that the transition would come as the technology improved and the costs for producing renewable and clean energy came down. Throw in the global growth engine fuelled by China and India and the resulting environmental damage and accelerated climate changes and we have the perfect climate so to speak or companies to go green and so investors must follow.
In fairness, there has been a global following for the sector for some time, but it has now reached the minds and trading accounts of mainstream investors that aren’t all investing with their hearts.
It is an exciting time as the momentum is coming from government and industry to make this revolutionary change .
We like to pat ourselves on the back that we were here and around before the copy cat sites for Renewableenergystocks.com jumped on the bandwagon. We are still the leader on Google, Yahoo , MSN and AOL if you are searching for info on “renewable energy stocks”
We think our upcoming Greentech Investor Conference "Investing in the Environment: Global Warming, Global Warning – Investing Today for Tomorrow’s Future" will be another milestone for our site in terms of providing research resources and information for investors and industry looking at the sector
Register early- its free – not like some of the conferences where visitors have to pay- this is free to investors – like most of our info
http://www.renewableenergystocks.com/Forums/Register.aspx
But as always , remember even if you are doing what you think is the right thing by investing in Green companies, there is risk and you may loose a little green if you don’t do your homework .

InvestorIdeas.com® Announces Upcoming Online Greentech Investor Conference "Investing in the Environment: Global Warming, Global Warning – Investing Today for Tomorrow’s Future"

As the Fight Against Climate Change Becomes a Global Priority, the Online Conference will Explore Investing Opportunities

POINT ROBERTS, WA and DELTA, BC – January 12, 2007, www.InvestorIdeas.com, and its greentech portals, global investor and industry resources for the renewable and clean tech sector, announce its upcoming online investor conference on ‘Investing in the Environment’ available March 21st, 2007, starting at 9:00 am EST and archived thereafter. With issues of energy independence, global warming and environmental concerns including pollution, water contamination and shortages escalating, cleantech investments continue to rise as global political support strengthens.

The online conference will include presentations (audio with power point slides) from renewable, environmental, water, clean energy and technology experts as well as public company CEOs providing in-depth perspectives on what is happening in the Greentech sector. Current participating public companies include ZAP (OTCBB: ZAAP), Rotoblock Corporation (OTCBB: ROTB), WaterBank of America (USA) Inc. (OTCBB: WBKA) and International Barrier Technology Inc. (OTCBB: IBTGF).

As Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi calls for “a new America that declares our energy independence, promotes domestic sources of renewable energy, and confronts climate change,” and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger proposes a Low Carbon Fuel Standard to reduce green house gas emissions by at least 10% in California by 2020, support for ‘green’ technology shows continued signs of growth.

It is clear that the fight against climate change has become a global priority evidenced by the recent proposal from the European Commission for the establishment of a new Energy Policy for Europe to combat climate change and increase energy security. In addition, investment into ‘green’ technology continues to grow domestically and internationally. According to the Cleantech Venture Network, cleantech investment for Q3’06 comprised 14% of all North American, and 12% of all European venture investments totaling $1.081 billion for the quarter.

The online conference is free to investors and online visitors, with login registration.

NASDAQ closing near 6 year highs- now that’s more relevant to the average individual investor. With the Dow's performance over the last months, it really did not impact the portfolio or pocketbook of the average investor - But NASDAQ covers a more across the board investor.
With a lot of positive speculation around earnings for tech stocks- this could be interesting year for the retail investor. Microsoft Corp. and Google Inc were leaders in the NASDAQ and tech run.

Money shift from commodity stocks to tech?

All of the money coming out of oil and gold and other commodity markets has to go somewhere - there is a lot of buzz around Tech for 2007. With companies like Google and Apple shining in the sector, some analysts think there is a lot of play in small caps in the tech sector

Again, what we have seen, these "trends" seem like short term thinking and can shift in a day. I am not sure I believe its time to leave the commodity markets if you are a long term player, since the driving global demand is still there. Not much has really changed other than perception and some sell off by bigger players.

So what are the individual investors to do? Don't be a trend follower- is a trend leader and pick your spots to get in on weakness

With that said, I do have a lot of optimism for the tech sector as it has been out of favor for a while and we see first hand how tech and the internet are changing the global face of business to increased online advertising to increased online sales and ecommerce - those trends and data are real

From what we see on our site traffic, the interest in commodities from individual investors is alive and well based on how they are searching and what they are researching.

Also from our site stats- looks like this could be good year for renewable energy stocks

Defense stocks looking back and looking ahead
There was a time at Investorideas.com hub of sector portals when our Homelanddefensestocks.com dominated the group. We had ten featured companies, hosted several very successful online investor conferences (one with 14 public companies participating) a live conference at the Press Club in Washington DC that had significant impact on the trading of all participants. The sector was hot. We were hot- featured in Business Week online twice and several other publications including CBS Market watch radio.

So looking at 2006 and the larger defense stocks - and their performance- with Lockheed Martin giving investors a 45 percent gain in share price, Raytheon a 30 percent gain , Boeing with 27 percent and Northrop Grumman showing 12 percent- why did some of the smaller players loose their luster? We saw some of the small players have major losses in share price. Was it just an example of the overall trend where investors were looking for large caps vs. small caps? Or was it the sector got overplayed by retail investors and those that did not deliver - got punished!

According to a regular contributor to our site - Scott Sacknoff-"Defense and homeland security companies continued to outperform the broader market in 2006 as the benchmark SPADE Defense Index (DXS) gained 19.33% and marked the seventh consecutive year it has outperformed the S&P500. It is a remarkable run that has seen the sector generate alpha over the broader markets not just for seven years running but in 20 of the last 26 quarters. This past year saw the sector outperform the broader markets by 571 basis point. And since 2000, the Index has gained a whopping 113.86% compared with a 3.47% LOSS by the S&P 500."

We found our HDS portal move down the ranks and loose its number one ranking. We recently saw some new life injected as the portal and Scott got coverage on CNBC on January 2nd.

Maybe it’s a sign of things to come.

Water stocks- still the site leader – sign of things to come?

I have been saying for over a year that I would like to personally own a water company- that’s where I would put my own money. We still see water stocks as the leading inbound search phrase on our site consistently- backing up my thoughts.
As Mother Nature forced her hand with violent rain and wind storms causing turbidity issues, Vancouver recently had the largest boil water advisory in Canada for over a week
Bottled water prices varied at locations as supply and demand caused several locations to sell out. This was a short term problem in a major city area, and we saw the panic set in immediately. What are we going to do if the problems escalate on a global basis due to global warming, desertification, growing population, infrastructure problems and pollution ? Some say we could face water wars in the future.
I actually moved my spring water supply into the garage from the carport during our recent water crisis .
The investment community has used phrases like- water the next oil…
We can live without oil , but drinkable water is essential .
Personally, I would like to own a water source, but investing in water is the next best thing for now.

A time to be thankful, whether the market and your stocks are up or down

We can all find a reason to complain when we are loosing money on paper or in our accounts in the real estate or stock market, but think deeper at how fortunate we are compared to so many others, that we at least have the luxury to invest and take on risk.

As contrast, there are millions of people and a lot of them children, that staying alive is the risk. Finding food, water or medicine are the goals, vs. ours of building our wealth.

I am guilty of complaining, I admit it, but I also have a lot of days and moments when the reality of the news and conditions in the world slaps me in the face and says “snap out of it".

We are fortunate even in the midst of our capital losses. We are still in the game!
If you are winning- remember to give, share and spread the good fortune around to those in need.

Happy Thanksgiving to all…

Water stocks- still the investors favorite

Investorideas.com has noted a growing trend following Hurricane Katrina, with inbound investor searches for the phrase “water stocks” and investing in water consistently dominating the diversified umbrella of sector portals – usually coming in at number 1,2 or 3 in terms of search rank

Water-stocks.com new featured company is WaterBank of America (OTCBB: WBKA), a manufacturer of hygienic ice cubes and bottled water with a strategy to create and acquire a “bank” of top quality springs to address global water scarcity problems.

The changing face of investor relations and the internet …

Ten years ago, when I started my firm our firm, Econ Investor Relations (prior to name change) offered public companies traditional IR and Pr services. Prior to using email on a regular basis and internet exposure, we would build a mail and fax list for shareholders and brokers following the company and send news out accordingly. We would republish news releases in Investors Business Daily, Barons and other investment papers and would see the shareholder list (NOBO) list rise in terms of number of shareholders. Direct communication by phone, following up, was critical. The internet played a minimal role in our services. In fact, my original website was AIMInvestor.com. It stood for “Analyzing Investors and Media “. AIM Mutual funds sent me a notice of suit for a Trade Mark Infringement for a substantial amount of $$ to change my website and relinquish the domain to them . It made no difference to me at the time, so I did in a heartbeat and Investorideas.com was born. As it turns out, now that I understand the power of the internet, it was a much better domain name in the long run!

Times have changed… Fast forward to today…
We have re-positioned our entire business model since 911 and phased out of traditional IR/PR and now focus on positioning companies within their industry sector and no longer perform IR services (we no longer take calls or emails from investors and brokers specific to individual companies)
We now operate our business online and it is 100% of my business model. Everything else we do supports our Investorideas.com hub of industry sector portals. The role has completely reversed from 10 years ago.

What we have learned in this transition:
We have found the life of a news release is shorter for investors – typically 2-3 days
Investors and brokers are very online savvy and can find news, research and info on the internet never found before
Message boards are more damaging to all parties than informative ( my opinion) and can be used to manipulate markets either way
The internet creates a more “fair” playing field for investors - news is immediate and so is disclosure in terms of requires SEC filings
Headlines with relevant key words are the most important part of the news release
Public companies that don’t keep their web site current , updated and search engine friendly are missing out on potential investors and business
The internet is a tool for inaccurate information- not only on message boards, so- investors need to determine validity of source
What’s hot in terms of industry sectors investors follow changes quickly – trends shift quickly from commodities to nanotech to renewable so staying on top of the news is imperative
Or… you can visit our site daily and sign up for some of our news letters and let us do part of the research for you

Ethics and the Stock Market- can they co-exist?

I feel a bit like Kerry Bradshaw sitting writing this column- bringing up questions of ethics in a world dominated by greed and fear – it seems as complicated and non- answerable as some of her dating questions.

I have been in this business for over twenty five years and think I have “seen it all” until yet another dishonorable or inept member of the human race proves me wrong.
It’s been my experience over the years , that failures and resulting losses in the stock market are a combination of : lack of character, lack of ability, lack of execution and lack of funding on the part of all players from the investor to the CEO, and to firms like mine caught somewhere in the middle.

I have heard every lie, every excuse and every reason for ignorance imaginable. I once had a fund manager complain about a client we dealt with years ago, when their stock was spiraling downward. I asked him if the read the SEC filings referencing the convertible debt on the books – with no “floor”. His responded indignantly he did not read SEC filings! So there is one example ( out of many I could expound upon) of investors trusting a fund manager that did no due diligence, a company that entered into a bad deal to satisfy funding needs at the time , and my firm caught in the middle of a pile of crap at the end.

So maybe I should do more due diligence and pick better clients? With the recent onslaught of corporate SEC investigation and hedge fund investigations, there have been SEC filings/ charges against some of the previously most respected and well thought of companies and individuals in the investment community.

Would I have taken on Martha Stewarts Company on as a client pre-SEC? Yes – and I would now as well.

I think we all have to take a closer look at the reasons we participate in the investment community at any level and own our answers for ourselves. If we wanted to be purists we could volunteer for a Church or a non- profit…. Like there is NEVER ANY SCANDAL OR WRONG DOING THERE………

I think we should add disclaimers to news releases and filings for public companies and investing in general that are more in line with the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry …
Warning, investing in this company or fund may cause head aches, nausea, impotence and diarrhea!

So just like Kerry Bradshaw would wonder - If all men are dogs – why do we keep putting ourselves out in the dating world???- then comparably if the investment community is plagued with a lack of ethics and brains – why do we continue?... Because just like Kerry – we are looking for “Mr. Big”

Our Homeland Security investor and industry portal-
Homelanddefensestocks.com featured in article- Growth of the Homeland Security Economy click here
HomelandDefenseStocks.com, a website that gathers and publishes information about the homeland security and defense industries, has been inundated with requests from conference organizers who want their homeland conference listed on the site, said Dawn Van Zant, the Web site’s president. There are so many conferences now, Van Zant said, that conference planners are beginning to specialize in areas within homeland security. To differentiate their shows, they are focusing on topics like biometrics, maritime security and border protection.
