An official statement from the White House today indicates that US President Joe Biden will be signing an executive order today to ensure the “responsible development of digital assets.” Coverage of the order from Cointelegraph points out that:

Despite fears that the order may resound a regulatory clampdown on the industry, the language of the document is fairly favorable, the key focus being the coordination and consolidation of various agencies’ efforts within a unified national policy.

In response to this news, the crypto market is very green today – in terms of cryptocurrencies and crypto stocks. Data from CoinMarketCap indicates that Bitcoin (BTC), for instance, is up over seven percent in the last 24 hours and is trading for roughly $42,000 USD at press time.

Apart from combating potential risks in the digital asset space, the executive order also encourages the Federal Reserve to explore the development of a central bank digital currency (CBDC).

Cathedra Bitcoin Inc. (TSXV:CBIT) has published its management’s 2021 annual shareholder letter, discussing energy markets, the monetary system, Bitcoin and central bank digital currencies, as well as the company’s plans. An excerpt reads:

Accumulating a formidable war chest of bitcoin on our corporate balance sheet is a priority for us. If one believes, as we do, that the next global monetary order will be built with Bitcoin at its center, then those companies with the largest bitcoin treasuries will thrive. We will continue to hold as much of our mined bitcoin as possible and may even supplement our mining activities with opportunistic bitcoin purchases on occasion.

At time of writing, Cathedra has 187 PH/s of hash rate active, and another 534 PH/s of hash rate contracted via purchases of mining machines we expect to be delivered from April through December of this year. Since we replaced the prior management team in September, we have grown Cathedra’s contracted hash rate by more than 300%. And we’re just getting started.

Digihost Technology Inc. (NasdaqCM:DGHI) has shared its unaudited Bitcoin production results for the month ended February 28, 2022. Highlights include the mining of around 50.85 BTC in the month, an increase of 45 percent over February 2021. The company’s CEO, Michel Amar, said:

“At the end of February and into the first week of March, Digihost continued to execute on its strategy of increasing the Company’s operating capacity by deploying new miners and expanding our hashrate by 20% to approximately 500PH. The Company anticipates further expansion of computing power in the months ahead as all Bitcoin miners received to-date, plus those in transit, are deployed. We are very pleased with the 45% increase in the number of Bitcoins mined in February compared to the same month in 2021 as Digihost continues to expand its operations while being almost completely carbon neutral.”

Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX:NCM) has completed the acquisition of Pretium Resources Inc. (NYSE:PVG), owner of the Brucejack mine in British Columbia, Canada. Following on from this, Pretium will be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange. Sandeep Biswas, CEO of Newcrest, commented:

“We are very excited to add Brucejack to Newcrest's portfolio, which now includes exposure to six Tier 1 assets. Through this acquisition and the continued development of our outstanding organic growth pipeline, Newcrest's base case gold production is expected to remain strong until at least 2030, and we have a range of further upside opportunities being progressed across the portfolio. This production profile is also expected to drive a major reduction in All-In Sustaining Costs, which makes Newcrest unique in the industry."

Alcoa Corporation (NYSE:AA) has announced the completion of an energy infrastructure project at its Deschambault aluminum smelter in Quebec, Canada. This is a capital project aimed at improving stability, increasing efficiency, and boosting production at the site. John Slaven, Alcoa’s Executive Vice President and COO, said:

"Through continuous improvement, we have been able to economically increase the capabilities of many of our assets, and this capital project at Deschambault should help us meet the strong demand we’re seeing for sustainably produced aluminum. We appreciate the dedication of our employees and the strong support from our stakeholders, including the investment from the Government of Canada."

Kinross Gold Corporation (NYSE:KGC) has poured the first gold bar at its La Coipa project in Chile. At the end of last year, the company increased La Coipa’s expected life of mine production by 45 percent to roughly 1 million gold equivalent ounces, and also signed a power purchase agreement late last year to supply the project with 100 percent renewable power. Kinross’s President and CEO, J. Paul Rollinson, said:

“Our team has safely delivered the project on schedule and under budget despite the challenging operating environment caused by the global pandemic over the past two years. With La Coipa expected to reach full operating capacity by mid-year, we are on the cusp of further exciting milestones at the project.”

Maverix Metals Inc. (NYSEAmerican:MMX) has acquired a package of three royalties on gold projects in Nevada from “an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of Waterton Precious Metals Fund II Cayman, LP for a $5 million cash payment.” The company’s CEO, Dan O'Flaherty, said:

The Financial Technology (Fintech) space is seeing increasingly more adoption of and integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. Research from Reports and Data finds that globally, the AI in Fintech market is projected to reach $49.33 billion USD by 2028. This is used for fraud detection, transaction risk investigation, consumer analysis and the employment of virtual assistance for customer support. In a recent interview with Investorideas.com, Danny Rittman, the CTO of GBT Technologies Inc. (OTC PINK:GTCH), commented on the inevitability of this.

“In any type of Integrated Circuit (IC) and its derivatives, AI will follow it,” Rittman said.

GBT recently announced the filing of a non-provisional patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for systems and methods of a financial software application for a secured, AI-controlled credit card management system. According to the press release, this is for the creation of “a smart "Financial Manager" that helps users with credit line monetary decisions, always ensuring their best interest.”

Rittman explained how and why such a service would be useful for credit card users and how the AI works.

“It’s hard to track which card is the best to use sometimes, in terms of interest rate which one gives you the best frequent flier mileage and which one earns you the best gifts and benefits overall,” he said. “Having an AI system as a financial advisor that is connected to consolidate all credit cards into one account and do this selection for you, can make a whole world of financial difference. It’s going to automatically create on the fly, the best financial advisor, telling you which card to use in which time and occasion in order to reach the best result for the user.”

“The AI constantly monitors and supervises. So for every transaction it’s connected to the credit card system and the AI is informed about every charge, and does the analytics per card.”

“It will choose which account and credit card to be used based on intelligent analytics that will be done at the time. So once the AI starts studying and learning about the user’s credit accounts, it will know more and more with time which card to use when and how for the best interest of the user.”

Credit card, fintech, and digital payments giant Visa (NYSE:V), as early as 2019, employed AI in its Visa Advanced Authorization, which uses predictive analytics to identify real-time fraudulent transactions. The company announced that in 2021 it had helped financial institutions prevent more than $354 million AUD in fraud from impacting Australian businesses by leveraging its AI technology.

Visa's Head of Risk for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Carolina Gallegos, said:

"Trust underpins everything we do at Visa, including our approach to innovation. We are investing more heavily than ever in systems resilience, fraud management and cybersecurity, including tokenisation, AI and blockchain-based solutions to bring even more security to ecommerce and Australian businesses."

Gallegos went on to say:

"Put simply, commerce is moving online, so fraudsters are focusing their efforts online and Visa's AI security helps make every single split-second assessment more sophisticated. A lot of the time, breaches can happen months before actual fraud takes place, so we help businesses identify if they have been a victim early on and take action before it occurs,"

Bank of America’s (NYSE:BACErica is a virtual assistant that leverages advanced analytics and cognitive messaging. According to a recent press release, 24.6 million Bank of America clients had interacted with Erica a total of 659 million times since 2018. David Tyrie, Chief Digital Officer and Head of Global Marketing at Bank of America, said:

"Now more than ever, consumers and businesses depend on digital, and Bank of America continues to deliver efficient, safe and reliable digital financial solutions. Our digital capabilities allow our clients to easily manage every aspect of their financial lives across banking, investing, lending and retirement, with access to advice and guidance from our financial professionals and through our financial centers when they need it."

Another technology growing alongside AI in the Fintech space is Blockchain, which overlaps with the former increasingly often in general, and according to Rittman, in GBT’s aforementioned patent application.

“The blockchain is actually already covered in this patent as well,” he said. “We use it to secure data, to manage data, and to make sure that privacy and security is assured especially with today’s cybersecurity issues that are evolving as we speak. It is imperative to use blockchain, there is no question about it.”

“We actually have our AI integrated with and managing the blockchain activities and algorithms, and it’s going to be part of the overall technology that we develop in the future.”

#RareEarth #Metals #Stock news -Defense Metals (TSX-V: $DEFN.V) (OTCQB: $DFMTF) Continues Drilling High Grade at Wicheeda and Confirms Significant Mineralization At Depth; @defenseMetals

Vancouver, British Columbia –March 9, 2022: Investorideas.com Newswire, MiningSectorStocks.com and RenewableEnergyStocks.com -Mining/Metals/ Green Energy Stock News- Defense Metals Corp. (TSX-V:DEFN / OTCQB:DFMTF/ 35D: FSE) is pleased to announce results for an additional six diamond drill holes totalling 845 metres from the Company’s 29 hole, 5,349 metre diamond drill program completed during fall 2021. Drill holes WI21-39 and WI21-40 collared from the same pad, and holes WI21-41 through WI21-44 sited 100 metres north were designed to further delineate the Wicheeda Rare Earth Element (REE) deposit.

Read this news and see tables and images at https://www.investorideas.com/news/2022/mining/03091Defense-Metals-Wicheeda.asp

Drill hole WI21-40 returned 3.23% TREO (total rare earth oxide) over 162 metres[1] Along with previously reported drill hole WI21-33 on section grading 3.17% TREO over 196 metres, these two holes yielded the highest-grade x width of the 2021 drill program to date. In addition to significant composite mineralized widths, these holes continue to demonstrate the presence of higher-grade zones of carbonatite at surface and at depth extending below the current resource pit shell.

The Company continues to receive additional assay results from the 2021 Wicheeda REE Deposit resource expansion and delineation campaign that will be released in the coming days and weeks.

Luisa Moreno, President, and Director of Defense Metals commented: “Drilling at depth within the northern Wicheeda Deposit has intersected significant new zones of high-grade REE mineralization with the potential to expand the mineral resource, and importantly may also contribute to supporting higher grades across the range of potential mine life.”

Resource infill drill hole WI21-39 (-60o dip / 285o azimuth) returned assays of 2.62% TREO over 110 metres1 and in conjunction with WI21-36 and WI21-37 completes sectional drilling within the northern quarter of the Wicheeda Deposit confirming the presence of high-grade dolomite carbonatite within 2019 near surface drill holes to a vertical depth of 175 metres and horizontal width of 160 metres (Table 1 and Figure 1).

Delineation drill hole WI21-40 (-60o dip / 285o azimuth) intersected mineralized dolomite carbonate from surface grading 3.23% TREO over 162 metres1; including higher grade intervals from surface of 4.21% TREO over 44.75 metres1, and at depth of 3.67% TREO over 71 metres1 extending 15 metres below the current resource pit shell (Figure 2). Importantly drill holes WI21-33, WI21-36, and WI21-40 establish the presence of a previously unrecognized zone of high-grade dolomite carbonate at depth within the northeast quadrant of the Wicheeda Deposit. Mineralized zones within WI21-40W and WI21-33 extend downhole 60 and 80 metres respectively below the current resource, and 15 and 32 metres below the resource pit shell providing the potential to expand mineral resources.

Drill hole WI21-44 (-60o dip / 240o azimuth) collared 100 metres to the north intersected a mixed interval of dolomite carbonatite near surface and REE mineralized syenite at depth high averaging 1.72% TREO over 108 metres; including 2.59% TREO over 54 metres near surface (Figure 3).

[2]TREO % sum of CeO2, La2O3, Nd2O3, Pr6O11, Sm2O3, Eu2O3, Gd2O3, Tb4O7, Dy2O3 and Ho2O3.

A series of short drill holes WI21-41 (-55o dip / 025o azimuth), WI21-42 (-70o dip / 025o azimuth), and WI21-43 (-85o dip / 045o azimuth) totalling 285 metres successfully delineated the northeast margin of the deposit. Drill hole WI21-43 intersected several carbonate dykes, syenite and limestone host rocks above resource cut-off averaging 0.55% TREO over 113 metres (Figure 3).

About the Wicheeda REE Property

The 100% owned 2,008-hectare Wicheeda REE Property, located approximately 80 km northeast of the city of Prince George, British Columbia, is readily accessible by all-weather gravel roads and is near infrastructure, including power transmission lines, the CN railway, and major highways.

The Wicheeda REE Project yielded a robust 2021 PEA that demonstrated an after-tax net present value (NPV@8%) of $517 million, and 18% IRR[2]. A unique advantage of the Wicheeda REE Project is the production of a saleable high-grade flotation-concentrate. The PEA contemplates a 1.8 Mtpa (million tonnes per year) mill throughput open pit mining operation with 1.75:1 (waste:mill feed) strip ratio over a 19 year mine (project) life producing and average of 25,423 tonnes REO annually. A Phase 1 initial pit strip ratio of 0.63:1 (waste:mill feed) would yield rapid access to higher grade surface mineralization in year 1 and payback of $440 million initial capital within 5 years.
