Hut 8 Mining Corp. (NasdaqGS:HUT) has posted an update regarding its proposed business combination with U.S. Data Mining Group, Inc. – dba US Bitcoin Corp – wherein the two firms will combine in an all-stock merger of equals and be called "Hut 8 Corp." (New Hut). The combination, according to the press release, “is expected to establish New Hut as a large scale, publicly traded Bitcoin miner focused on economical mining, highly diversified revenue streams, and industry leading environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.” New Hut has filed a further amendment to its Form S-4 Registration Statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Jaime Leverton, CEO of Hut 8, said:

"We continue to make progress toward closing the transaction with USBTC and look forward to securing SEC clearance for New Hut's registration statement in the near term. We believe that once completed, the merger will establish a strengthened, dynamic business backed by both Bitcoin and fiat revenues generated from robust North American-wide operations."

CleanSpark, Inc. (NasdaqCM:CLSK) has announced that phase two of its mining campus in Washington, Georgia, is live. Phase two boasts a power capacity of 50 megawatts (MW) or just over 15,000 mining machines, of which about 10,500 are already in operation. Zach Bradford, CEO of CleanSpark, said:

"The speed with which our team has successfully executed this expansion testifies to the technical expertise and experience that we have gained since we transitioned from an energy company to a bitcoin mining company. But it couldn't have been possible without local contractors and the Washington, GA, community, who have been supportive partners of our efforts to generate sustainable economic growth in the area. This expansion has already helped us get more than halfway to our year-end guidance of 16 EH/s."

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) has published its global regulatory framework for crypto-asset activities today, which aims “to promote the comprehensiveness and international consistency of regulatory and supervisory approaches.” The framework, for which the FSB was tasked by the G20, focusses on: (i) ensuring adequate safeguarding of client assets; (ii) addressing risks associated with conflicts of interest; and (iii) strengthening cross-border cooperation. According to the document, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), are not subject to recommendations focussing on addressing risks to financial stability.

MarineMax, Inc. (NYSE:HZO) has announced the expansion of its floor plan facility from $750 million to $950 million, thereby increasing its liquidity and financial flexibility for the future. According to the press release, this larger facility “will be used to finance the purchase of new and used boat and yacht inventory.” Michael H. McLamb, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary of MarineMax, said:

Djokovic Advances to Wimbledon Finals, and Arsenal Signs Jurriën Timber from Ajax

The Associated Press reports that Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic is advancing to the Wimbledon final after defeating Italian Jannik Sinner 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (4) in the semifinals this morning. If Djokovic prevails in the finals, he will have captured his eighth Wimbledon title, tying with Roger Federer as the only two men to have won eight singles trophies at the tournament. Notably, the age gap between Djokovic and Sinner (36 and 21, respectively) was the largest between Wimbledon men’s semifinalists in the Open era, and Djokovic “would be the oldest champion at Wimbledon since professionals were first allowed to compete that year.”

The AP also reports that Islington, London-based football (soccer) team Arsenal signed Netherlands defender Jurriën Timber from Amsterdam club Ajax today so as to strengthen its defensive options for another run at the Premier League title and its return to the Champions League. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said:

“We’re really excited that Jurrien has joined us. He is a versatile young defender who will fit into our system and provide our squad with so much added quality. Jurrien is a young player, but has already achieved so much. He has experienced what it’s like to go to a major international tournament on more than one occasion, as well as the trophies he has won with Ajax.”

Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:GOLD) has reported preliminary Q2 sales of 1 million ounces of gold and 101 million pounds of copper, as well as preliminary production of 1.01 million ounces of gold and 107 million pounds of copper for the quarter. This, according to the press release, puts the company on track to achieve full year gold and copper guidance with production expected to increase in the second half of the year. Preliminary Q2 gold production surpassed that of Q1, largely driven by higher production at the Carlin site, and higher grades at both Kibali and Veladero.

Nova Royalty Corp. (TSXV:NOVR) has completed its acquisition of an existing 0.25 percent net smelter return on the Tatogga Property in British Columbia, Canada, owned by Newmont Corporation (NYSE:NEM). Tatogga contains the Saddle North copper-gold-silver deposit. According to the press release, the last reported mineral resource estimate for Saddle North included 1.81 billion pounds of copper, 3.47 million ounces of gold, and 7.58 million ounces of silver.

Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) has announced its preliminary silver and gold production for the second quarter and first half of 2023. Highlights include a 13 percent increase in silver production, a 14 percent decrease in gold production, a 3 percent increase in zinc production, and a 9 percent increase in lead production. The company’s President and CEO, Phillips S. Baker, Jr., commented:

"Our silver operations remain on track to produce about 17 million ounces this year, with Keno Hill expected to produce more than 2.5 million ounces. With expected silver production of about 20 million ounces in 2025, Hecla is the world’s fastest-growing established silver producer and the dominant producer of silver in the U.S. and soon Canada."
