What a difference a day makes in the market - Following the Fed the market reacted strongly to the upside with the Dow Jones industrial average up 156.86 points, (1.28 %), at 12,444.96. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index up 23.67 points, (1.68 %) at 1,434.61, The NASDAQ Composite Index up 47.71 points, (1.98 %) at 2,455.92.
Our site sometimes sees a trend before it happens and felt some of the pain in the market prior to the big drop in the Dow and then saw things gain momentum online before todays reaction .

If we are to believe the saying “you are what you eat”, then the families living in the Guatemala City dump are garbage. As we live our lives of manicured lawns and manicured nails in North America, the families of the Guatemala City dump wake up in huts built of cardboard or tin, landscaped with garbage and find their daily survival needs within the layers of the city dump.
Never before imagining leaving the boundaries of smell and decay, the children and families have been given a light of hope through Camino Seguro (Safe Passage) www.safepassage.org. The dream of empowering children and creating change through education started with founder Hanley Denning, who was tragically killed in a car accident in January 2007. Her vision of “creating opportunities and dignity through the power of education “lives on in the faces and the hearts of the children at Camino Seguro.
Thanks to my sister and niece (Darcy and Chelsea) who recently volunteered at the organization and fell in love with the children for bringing the cause to our attention.

Calgary — Alberta will overcome the difficult challenges facing oil sands development, the head of the provincial energy regulator says.
“I firmly believe this will be very well organized and deliberately planned on the part of everybody to ensure this resource is extracted properly. We will make sure of that, because as an organization we can't stand by and see it done otherwise,” Neil McCrank, chairman of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board, said in an interview.
In November and December, the board approved two new oil sands projects but both times warned that rapid expansion of the oil sands was reaching a critical point.
With roughly $100-billion of work planned for the region over the next decade, problems are everywhere in Fort McMurray, from a severe housing shortage that has made the remote city one of Canada's most expensive to extremely stressed health care facilities"
