ICE (NYSE:ICE) Announces Futures Trading on Bakkt Platform for December 12, 2018, Singapore State Investment Firm Invests in Binance Fiat-to-Crypto Exchange Expansion, Square Open-Sources Cold Storage Solution and HTC Announces Presale of "Blockchain Phone" Exodus 1
The crypto market is largely in the red today, with total market capitalization sitting at $208 billion USD at press time, down about $2 billion since yesterday. According to data from CoinMarketCap, Bitcoin (BTC) is trading at $6473 USD, Ether (ETH) at $203 USD, XRP at $0.44 USD and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) at $441 USD.
Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, has announced the debut of Bitcoin futures trading on their Bakkt platform. According to a release yesterday, ICE will list futures contracts on Bakkt on December 12, 2018. It goes on to say:
Each futures contract calls for delivery of one bitcoin held in the Bakkt Digital Asset Warehouse, and will trade in U.S. dollar terms. One daily contract will be listed for trading each Exchange Business Day.
Bloomberg reports that Singapore state investment firm, Vertex Ventures, has made an investment in crypto exchange Binance. While the dollar amount of the investment was not revealed, the report indicates that it is going toward the development of a fiat-to-crypto exchange in Singapore. Cointelegraph quotes Binance CFO Wei Zhou on the expansion into Singapore:
"[Binance] "look[s] forward to building up the blockchain ecosystem and working with all stakeholders in Singapore to support continued innovation in the local fintech space."
In a Medium post yesterday, payments company Square announced that it was open-sourcing Subzero, its Bitcoin cold storage solution. Subzero is a Hardware Security Module (HSM)-backed cold wallet, which boasts "guarantees around the security of sensitive key material, such as strong access control, and active protection against physical tamper."

Taiwanese electronics giant HTC announced in a tweet the presale of the Exodus 1, a "blockchain phone". The phone is described as "the world's first native blockchain phone dedicated to decentralized applications and security".
