Tech buyers with good records

Tech is a sector where insiders overall have turned bearish of late. So when you see buyers with great records picking up their own shares in this group, it stands out.

A director with a solid record at Universal Display (PANL) bought a sizable amount of stock, or $324,000 worth, in mid-August. Universal Display, which makes components used in lighting and display panels, has negative cash flow, but it has around $1.60 a share in cash and no debt. So it appears to have decent financial strength.

The tiny chip maker Integrated Silicon Solution (ISSI) saw continued buying by an insider with a good track record in the past week. This company also appears financially sound with $2.80 a share in cash and no debt. The stock trades for $3.70.

Interactive Intelligence (ININ) sells software used in voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) at businesses. This company has good financial strength – or $3 a share in cash and no debt. An insider with a solid record was a substantial buyer in mid-August.

Crane (CR) is a “tech” company in the sense that it provides sensors, flow control systems and electrical components to aerospace and defense companies. But it also sells materials used in commercial construction, and vending machines, so it’s not pure tech. The company’s chief Eric Fast has a decent record for timing purchases, and he was a significant buyer in mid-August.
