Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon (NasdaqGS:AMZN), has announced the general availability of its AWS Snowcone, which is described as “a small, ultra-portable, rugged, and secure edge computing device for collecting, processing, and moving data to AWS from disconnected environments.” The smallest member of the “AWS Snow Family” of devices, Snowcone enables “customers to collect data, process it locally, and move it to AWS either offline … or online.” Bill Vass, VP of Storage, Automation and Management Services, AWS, said:
"With more applications running at the edge for an expanding range of use cases, like analyzing IoT sensor data and machine learning inference, AWS Snowcone makes it easier to collect, store, pre-process, and transfer data from harsh environments with limited space to AWS for more intensive processing."
Intel Corporation (NasdaqGS:INTC) has expanded its partnership with Penguin Computing, Inc., a division of AI and HPC leader SMART Global Holdings, Inc. (NasdaqGS:SGH). This will see Penguin participating in the Intel Select Solutions program and delivering “a series of verified quick-to-deploy infrastructure solutions optimized for HPC and AI/ML applications.” Kevin Tubbs, Senior Vice President, Strategic Solutions Group at Penguin Computing, explained:
“Customers with traditional HPC and advanced analytics environments are rapidly adopting more AI capabilities. Our customers are increasingly looking for workload-optimized infrastructure and compute capabilities that enable them to drive transformational insights from edge to core.
