Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) has announced a definitive agreement to acquire all of the outstanding common shares of Alexco Resource Corp. (NYSEAmerican:AXU). This gives it access to a large, high-grade silver property in Canada’s Yukon territory, a fully permitted property with infrastructure that includes a 400 tonne per day mill, and more. Phillips S. Baker Jr., President and CEO of Hecla, said:

"As the United States' largest silver producer, producing over 40% of silver mined in the U.S., it is natural that Hecla acquires Keno Hill which could also make Hecla Canada's largest silver producer. Silver is a critical element to decarbonize the economy and the need for domestic supply is growing. Acquiring Keno Hill allows Hecla to further meet this need with a secure high-grade silver development and exploration project that has a small environmental footprint."

IAMGOLD Corporation (NYSE:IAG) has reported assay results from its 2022 delineation diamond drilling program on its wholly-owned Karita Gold project in north-eastern Guinea. Craig MacDougall, the company’s Executive Vice President of Growth, commented:

"The results reported today from our ongoing delineation drilling program are highly encouraging and continue to build on our exploration successes in the region. Karita is located on the Senegal-Mali Shear Zone which extends from B2Gold's Fekola mine 15 kilometres to the north though our previous discoveries at the Boto and Diakha-Siribaya projects to the south. During this program we have intersected multiple, wide zones of mineralization within altered metasedimentary units, several of which include considerable thickness in the shallow oxidized zone, extending nearly 2 kilometres along strike.”

Endeavour Silver Corp. (NYSE:EXK) has completed the acquisition of the Pitarrilla Project in northern Mexico from SSR Mining Inc. (NasdaqGS:SSRM). The project is described as “one of the largest undeveloped silver deposits in the world.” Dan Dickson, Endeavour’s CEO, said:

“Our immediate goal is to verify all historical data to prepare a current mineral resource estimate, drill high priority exploration targets, and further define regional targets. The transition process has already begun, and we look forward to building on the successes achieved by SSR Mining.”

White Gold Corp. (TSXV:WGO) has started the 2022 drill program at the Betty Ford and Mascot targets on its Betty property. David D’Onofrio, the company’s CEO, explained:

“Our 2021 maiden diamond drill program on the Betty Ford target returned one of the best holes drilled in the district, intersecting 3.46 g/t gold over 50m from near surface. We are eager to follow up on this exciting discovery to further test the extents of the broad gold zone encountered. We are also excited to commence a maiden diamond drill program at the Mascot Target that hosts three large gold mineralized zones, which we believe may be indicative of the presence of a broader gold system. Our Betty property is located in close proximity to existing large gold and copper deposits along the same fault structure. We look forward to further advancing this prospective and underexplored property.”
