Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:GOLD) has announced that it is looking to expand its East African footprint from its North Mara and Bulyanhulu gold mines in Tanzania. This follows the ramping up of production at both aforementioned mines, which resulted in the mining of a record 505,000 tonnes of ore and waste in the last quarter. The company’s President and CEO, Mark Bristow, said:
“In addition to the brownfields exploration designed to maintain the positive trend on resource expansion and conversion at the two mines, we are also looking further afield. A better understanding of the region’s geological architecture will improve our ability to discover new world-class development opportunities in our areas of interest.”
Fury Gold Mines Limited (NYSEAmerican:FURY) has reported the results for six core drill holes at the Eau Claire project in the Eeyou Istchee Territory in the James Bay region of Quebec, Canada. Tim Clark, the company’s CEO, explained:
"The Hinge Target continues to expand gold mineralization at the Eau Claire deposit which remains open for considerable expansion. We are looking forward to the remaining 14 holes from the Percival Target, the North Limb, the eastern extension, the Gap Zone, and the Hinge Target, which are pending assay and expected prior to year-end. Although assay times have been slow across the industry, the Company is in a strong financial position with over C$12.5m in our treasury, 50% of drill results pending from this summer's drill program, and extensive surface exploration results from across the Eau Claire land position."
Defiance Silver Corp. (OTC:DNCVF) has posted an update on the Zacatecas district drill program in Mexico. Highlights include high grade Ag-Zn-Pb-Au mineralization in the heart of the Veta Grande vein system at the Zacatecas silver project, which further extended the limits of mineralization below the 2014 resource area. Chris Wright, the company’s Chairman & CEO, said:
"We continue to be encouraged by the expanding envelope of mineralization well outside the limits of the current resource area. The mineralized body encountered by high-grade drill holes DDSA-21-36 & 37 and then further at depth with hole DDSA-22-52 clearly demonstrates the strength of the mineral system and the exploration potential at depth outside of the current resource area. We will continue to test these structures in order to understand the limits of the mineral system for future resource planning."
Independence Gold Corp. (TSXV:IGO) has started the fall exploration program at its 100 percent-owned 3Ts Project, in British Columbia, Canada. Exploration aims to focus on surface mapping and sampling between the Ted-Mint and Tommy Vein Systems to clarify the structural and mineral potential of the target area, “and to provide essential data to aid with future drill programs.” According to the press release, the 3Ts Project comprises fifteen mineral claims covering approximately 5,200 hectares, and covers an epithermal quartz-carbonate vein system within which more than a dozen individual mineralized veins have been identified.
