Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:GOLD) has reached an agreement with the government of Tanzania, settling disputes regarding mines recently acquired by the former. According to the press release, the agreement includes “payment of $300 million to settle all outstanding tax and other disputes; the lifting of the concentrate export ban; the sharing of future economic benefits from the mines on a 50/50 basis; and the establishment of a unique, Africa-focused international dispute resolution framework”. In tandem with the agreement, a new operating company called Twiga Minerals Corporation has been formed to manage the Bulyanhulu, North Mara and Buzwagi mines.
IAMGOLD Corporation (NYSE:IAG) has announced the initial Mineral Resource estimate on its Nelligan Joint Venture Project, located 60 kilometres southwest of Chibougamau, Quebec, Canada. The initial estimate, on a 100% basis, shows a pit-constrained Inferred Resource totalling 96,990,000 tonnes averaging 1.02 grams of gold per tonne for 3,193,900 ounces of contained gold. Craig MacDougall, Senior Vice President, Exploration for IAMGOLD, commented:
"The completion of this initial resource estimate reported for Nelligan is an important milestone which solidifies this new grassroots discovery by the IAMGOLD exploration team. The discovery of the Renard Zone builds on the initial discoveries made by Vanstar which originally highlighted the exploration potential of this area and motivated our participation in the project. I would like to point out that we have advanced this project from the initial grassroots discovery of the Renard Zone to the declaration of a sizable mineral resource in just three years. I congratulate our exploration team on their efforts which have led to this outstanding discovery.”
Advantage Lithium Corp. (TSXV:AAL) has revealed the results of a Pre-Feasibility Study based on production of Battery Grade Lithium Carbonate from a 25 ktpa (kilotonne per annum) nameplate capacity stand-alone plant located at its Cauchari JV in the province of Jujuy, Argentina. Some highlights identified in the press release include:
● Proven and Probable Mineral Reserves of 1.02Mt of LCE grading 480 mg/l Lithium sufficient to support 30 years of production
● Reserves and production plan derived from a Measured and Indicated mineral resource base of 4.8Mt LCE ( April 2019 ) with appropriate modifying factors applied
● Reasonable prospects to convert 1 Mt of Inferred resources in the lower sand units of the salar into Measured and Indicated resources through recommended additional drilling and test work in the next phase of development
Bayhorse Silver Inc. (TSXV:BHS) has “confirmed the presence of significant coarse gold mineralization with the highest grade being 20.2 g/t gold over 1.5 m received from metallic screen assays from the re-assayed core samples containing visible gold from the 2010 Brandywine drilling program by Auramex Resources”. Bayhorse CEO Graeme O'Neill commented:
“The excellent coarse gold assay results from three short drill holes in one small corner of the 200 m. x 100 m. Dave's Pond target, 85 feet along strike from a significant 36.9 g/t gold intersection in 1995, have confirmed that a comprehensive follow up drilling program is warranted."
Abacus Mining and Exploration Corporation (TSXV:AME) has acquired the Jersey Valley property, a new gold project in Nevada. Abacus signed a letter of intent with a private Nevada company that provides a 15-year lease with annual option payments and the right to purchase the entire property at any time. Commenting on the site, Abacus President Paul G. Anderson said:
“We have been looking for some time for a gold project to complement our existing Nevada assets. Jersey Valley has all the hallmarks of a classic epithermal gold property, in close proximity to some very large mines. We also have power not nearby, but actually on the claims.”
