As the year draws to a close, Bitcoin (BTC) continues to register new all-time high trading prices. Though yesterday’s Crypto Corner reported a then-new all-time high of $28,550, in the past 24 hours Bitcoin has surpassed $29,000 several times, peaking at about $29,250 according to data from CoinMarketCap. A report from Cointelegraph cites a high-volume surge as the driver behind this latest rally. An excerpt from that same piece outlines Bitcoin’s 2020:

Currently, Bitcoin price has gained 302.6% for the year and is vastly outperforming gold and traditional markets like the Dow and S&P500. For Q4, BTC has rallied by 168.32%, securing the second-best quarterly performance since 2017 when the digital asset gained 210.13% in Q4.

XRP, on the other hand, continues to receive bad news. Yesterday major crypto exchange Binance announced that Binance US will delist XRP effective January 13, 2021, and just today fellow exchange eToro “has decided to prohibit purchases of XRP on the eToro platform and to prohibit any conversion of XRP held in a customer’s eToro Wallet beginning on January 3.”

Ebang International Holdings, Inc. (NasdaqGS:EBON) announced that it “expects to commence public testing of its cryptocurrency exchange and officially launch the exchange in the first quarter of 2021.” Ebang’s Chairman and CEO, Dong Hu, explained:

“The completion of the internal testing of our cryptocurrency exchange is another step forward in expanding our blockchain financial services business. Meanwhile, we will also explore other business opportunities in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry such as establishing mining farms and cryptocurrency mining to optimize the structure of our offerings in the blockchain industry value chain.”

Unicas, a joint venture between online banking platform Cashaa and the United Multistate co-op society, has opened the first physical crypto banking branch in Jaipur, India. The company plans to expand to 100 branches by the end of 2022. Kumar Gaurav, CEO and Founder of Cashaa, explained:

“If we are planning to move ahead with the aim of digital India then we cannot hesitate in adopting new technologies and finding innovative ways to bring it to Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in India. In addition to banking, Unicas will also provide information and guidance on the level of convenience and security that blockchain technology offers.”
