Binance has launched a cash-to-crypto service in Australia that allows users to purchase crypto at 1300 of the country’s newsagents. Known as Binance Lite Australia, the service enables users to order the desired amount of crypto through an online account, and have it deposited at the nearest newsagent to collect. Wei Zhou, Binance CFO, said:
“Binance Lite Australia further expands digital currency adoption by providing easier ways to buy bitcoin. We are excited to continue to roll out more fiat to crypto gateways around the world to support the growth of our industry. We firmly believe that more adoption will lead to more innovation and more economic opportunities.”
Coindesk reports that CoinMarketCap has announced two cryptocurrency indices to be featured on financial data feeds from Nasdaq Global Index Data Service (GIDS), Bloomberg Terminal, Thomson Reuters Eikon (Refinitiv) and Germany’s Börse Stuttgart, as well as its own data feed. One, the CMC Crypto 200 Index (CMC200), will include Bitcoin (BTC) and “90 percent of the global cryptocurrency market”. The second, CMC Crypto 200 ex BTC Index (CMC200EX), will track the crypto market without Bitcoin.
On Monday the U.K. Parliament was presented with a blockchain technology showcase, according to a report from CoinBeat. The showcase was put together by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Blockchain (APPG Blockchain), and featured major industry players IOTA, Oracle (NYSE:ORCL), Everledger and Lloyd’s of London. Blockchain research and project manager at Big Innovation Centre, Fernando Santiago, said:
“This is a pivotal moment for UK, which could define our future leadership in governance, commerce and competition.”
Yesterday, global tech solutions firm Avnet (NasdaqGS:AVT) announced a collaboration with crypto payments provider BitPay, that allows the former to accept payments for its products and services in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). Sonny Singh, chief commercial officer, BitPay, commented:
“As one of the largest global technology solution providers on the Fortune 500 list, Avnet is truly an innovative company that listens to the needs of their customers, as demonstrated by their decision to accept bitcoin payments. Not only is paying with bitcoin easier and faster than with credit cards and bank wires, it is less expensive and acceptance of it is growing. I predict Avnet will attract many new blockchain-focused customers from around the world that want to take advantage of paying with bitcoin.”
