Thai SEC Approves First ICO Portal, Russian Central Bank Imposes Restrictions on Retail Crypto Investment, Binance Wallet Adds Credit Card and XRP Support and Coinbase Links Website with Wallet App
The Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved its first initial coin offering (ICO) portal, according to a report from the Bangkok Post today. The unnamed portal is operated by a foreign company, and is currently being finalised for official approval with the relevant government agencies. According to the report, “ICO portals help screen ICOs, conduct due diligence, prove smart contract source codes and verify the know-your-customer process”.
CCN reports that the Russian central bank is imposing new restrictions on retail cryptocurrency investment. The new regulations seek to prevent “unqualified investors” from accumulating too much cryptoassets. Among the new rules will be the implementing of an information-sharing system between different exchanges, so that investors’ assets can be better supervised. The government will issue qualification certificates that determine whether an investor is experienced enough to partake in crypto investment. Additionally, would-be investors will be required to have a university degree in economics and a minimum of of 6 million rubles in assets ($915,000).
Trust Wallet, the official crypto wallet of exchange giant Binance, is now supporting credit card purchases and XRP, according to Cointelegraph. Through a new partnership with payments processor Simplex, Trust Wallet allows users to purchase the various cryptocurrencies it supports with credit and debit card transactions.
In a blog post yesterday, Coinbase announced that users can now link their Coinbase.com account with the Coinbase Wallet app. This enables the easy transfer of crypto to and from the Wallet “with just a couple clicks”. The post explains how this development might be useful for dApp users:
